Introduction to Kanishka's
Kanishka’s(founded in 1970) is known for its use of unique traditional techniques of producing handloom & block printed sarees and textiles. Every process in the making of its products is completely manual using skilled craftsmen.
Established in 1970 in Kolkata, Kanishka's began as an entrepreneurial effort by Nandita & Dilip Raja. In early 1980’s Kanishka’s set up its first handloom unit in Orissa. Today it has weaving units in Bengal, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa. Kanishka's products are also exported to US, Japan and France.
Kanishka’s has been a pioneer in modern handblock printing and handloom weaving textiles for nearly 4 decades in India. The Kanishka’s brand stands for the highest sense of aesthetics and design sensibilities in its specialty field of hand block printing and handloom textiles all over the world.
KORA is a women’s indo-western pret line from the house of Kanishka’s which has pioneered the revival of hand-block printing over the last four decades.
The brand predominantly uses natural fabrics and is focused on stylized international cuts on Indian textiles and prints.
Kanishka’s has supported the revival of many traditional weaving techniques in rural India. Today, in addition to its domestic business, Kanishka’s contemporary crafted textiles are being exported to the US and Japan. The brand stands for a high sense of aesthetics and design sensibilities in hand-block printing and textile crafting.
